43 Completed WC1 Projects; 9 Ongoing WC1 Projects; 8 Completed WC2 Projects and 3 Ongoing WC2 Projects in Cross River State

Forty-Three (43) Micro Projects (Water Schemes, School Blocks, Agro Mills, Civic Centres, Open Markets Stalls) under Works Contract 1 (WC1) have been successfully Completed and handed over to beneficiaries in Obudu, Abi and Biase Local Government Areas of Cross River State. Nine (9) other micro projects under WC1 are under construction presently. Eight (8) micro projects are yet to be started under WC1.

Eight (8) micro projects (Water Schemes, Open Market) under WC2 have been Completed and awaiting Provisional Acceptance (handing over to beneficiaries). The Projects are spread across Obudu, Abi and Biase Local Government Areas of Cross River State. Three (3) micro projects under WC2 are under Construction present in Abi and Obudu Local Governments of the State.

Thirty (30) Projects under WC2 are yet to be awarded.

i.                                Additional Health infrastructure to the village and the state at large. Has capacity for 6 beds. Primary health care facility is brought closer to people.

ii.                              Reduced mortality rate is anticipated among the villagers with the closeness to health care facility.

iii.                            Socio-economically, the facility will create a number of jobs for skilled and unskilled persons in the village. Having a health facility close by, the people will access medical care readily and maintain good health thus resulting higher man days of work per capita.

i.                                Boost in Commercial Activities – The community does not have any built-up shops but only trade in the open. The completion of this project will provide the first built shops in the community. This will boost commercial activities in the community and improve livelihood.

ii.                              Socioeconomically, the market infrastructure will improve the financial standing of the community through rents derived from leasing the facility/ building.

i.              Additional Commercial Infrastructure in the community – The community market is big. Most of the traders trade in the open. After the completion of this project, it is expected that the traders will operate in a more conducive environment, and it is important to be mentioned that those who get the lock up shops will not have to move their wares as frequently as they do now.

ii.            Socioeconomically, the lock up stalls, when leased out will improve the socioeconomic status of the community through rents derived from leasing the facility.
